So we are a caveman and our kids are hungry – it’s our job to provide. Unfortunately KFC did not exist around this period so we pretty much had to get the meals nailed down ourselves!

I always found the Paleo diet a pretty exciting way to lose weight as I’m not one to count calories ( I tried it once and gave up after about three days – numbers and all that! ). At the end of the day calories are not the ‘be all and end all’ of a diet – there are other factors involved.
The playing field is never even when it comes to calories! If you take on a Big Mac you are probably shoving down about 400-500 calories. Now are you going to tell me that 500 calories of nasty Big Mac meat ( if you can call it that! ) is equal to 500 calories from carrots? Nope…..I don’t think so!
So forget about the calories here – we’re not interested in them. By simply removing certain foods from your diet you will see quite amazing results in a very short space of time!
So How Does This Paleo Diet Work?
If you sit down in the town center at lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon what do you see? Do you see hundreds of tall Brad Pitt lookalikes walking by with their supermodel girlfriends? No, you certainly do not!
You see t-shirts being tucked over huge beer belly’s and women wearing tight pants that look like they have been stolen off their twelve year old daughter!
Back in the day ( caveman territory! ) Homo Sapiens were lean and mean killing machines! Today most Homo Sapiens are only fit for a Homer Simpson hammock and a gentle snooze.
Blame The Farmers ( And Why Not! )

When we were still lurching around with club in hand we were not really consuming grains – this came a lot later on in our progress. We were hunter-gatherers, we were not farmers!
Grains are made up of carbohydrates which are turned into glucose (a type of sugar) in our system to be used for energy and various other tasks to help our body function. This glucose is the ‘enemy within’ here – if your body is not using glucose it decides to pack it away nicely in a quiet corner of your body. Problem is it’s not going to pack it away in a suitcase……it’s gonna store it as fat!
